I've been to this site a few times over the last couple of days and finally made it to non-fish stuff - and look what I found, lots of introductions. I thought I should do you all the courtesy of introducing myself.
I'm DebbieK from Victoria, Australia. I've been keeping fish for almost 10 years. My sister gave me a 2' tank with 3 bristlenose, (1 male & 2 female) a whiptail and several guppies, and handfulls of spawning moss.
Since then I have added tetras, (neons, black neons, glowlights, congos, columbians) silver (bala) sharks, clown loaches, angels and finally a black ghost. I got rid of the guppies btw and haven't had all above-mentioned fish in the 2' tank at once. I also got rid of most of the spawning moss which was taking over my tank and now have only what has attached itself to the driftwood in my tank, and a couple of live plants, and a couple of "plastic" plants.
Then about 2 months ago, something went wrong in the tank and they all ended "belly up" including the BGK I had bought 2 weeks before, bar the Angel (I've had for ages) and the Male bristlenose who I bought about a week before. I was very unimpressed, to put it mildly
After talking to the lfs I was told he'd heard a lot of people had lost their entire stock in the past couple of weeks and Melbourne water had flushed the pipes recently so I don't know to this day what actually happened. I'd rather blame it on Melbourne Water, than my fish keeping.
Anyway, have now restocked starting with my Angel and bristlenose and I bought some feeder fish, which have turned out to be rosy barbs, to cycle the tank. Have added 3 rummy-nose, 3 harlequins, 2 congos, 2 chequered rainbow fish, 1 whiptail and of course "ghostie".
Sorry about the long-winded intro, but now you know a little about me and where I've been.
Cheers,
DebbieK
