will be building the tank myself..and my current crew will have slow additions of tetras in a 177 until it is maxed and the rest I will get at a later point....
The tank length will be 96",
36-40"wide and
the depth I am mulling over (I don't want it where I have to get snorkel gear to clean the bottom!) between 36 and 40.
Plans are done:
The SA biotope occupant plan:
2 Black ghost knives with decoration arranged to encourage living at each end
10 discus of an assortment with 4 being browns(anna wants her discus with the tank)
wanted angels...prolly not because the discus
TETRAS: ……...
Long:
20Blackedge ...20Ruby ...20Neons ...15Cardinal tetra
15Black neon . ..10Silvertip ...15Blue Emperor/Royal
15Cochu Blues
Smaller Highbodies:
7blood tetras"skirted" ...9Red Phantom
7flags .....7Rainbow"skirted"
9lemon "skirt" ...7glowlight"skirt"
Others and over 3 inches:
10Blackline penguinfish/hockeysticks...
6 timon rojo (my cousin will send them..they look like hockey sticks with a big neon red that covers the tail)
5 Ojito rojos (cousin will send I' m sure it is a characin adn they are small)
Corydoras:.......
5 pandas
5 flag pandas
5 bronze &5 albinos
8 peppers
(this covers debris control and some sand areation)
Pleco"
3-4 Rubberlips(undecided)
AND possibly a couple fancy 6-7 inch panaque(?) type pleco of compatible species
Freshwater snails and shrimp as needed.
There will be a sump with a gas run RV styled water heater that runs with a the wet dry and the sterilizer. It will be running with its own circuit breaker and will be heavily planted which will help keep the pH below 7.0.
My hubby is designing plans now for my daughter but she wants to have her discus in the biotope when not breeding. I was originally thinking a 200-300 gallon tank. But ned to add for the discus. As a natural set up, I am going to try encourage tetra breeding conditions to replace the losses from the bigger fish.
This will be in the basement level of my house, and my asian biotpe will be on the main floor....
My current tank has a few foreigners....
1 BKG
3 Clown loaches
5 Red Phantom tetra
4 Penguin tetras
8 Rummynose
3 corydoras
some snails snails and one freeloading betta.
