I have had my black ghost knife for almost a year, but in the past week he has been acting really strange. He has hardly been eating and swimming very aggressively in the tank. Hitting himself on the glass and swimming franticly in the tank. I have a 10 gallon tank. He is the only one in there. I recently put a gold mystery snail in there a few days ago. I was wondering if the snail was the problem. Please help me...Is he dying?

Hi Judy,
What are the dimensions of your tank. I would keep an adult BGK in no less than a 4' tank, with enough space to turn and deep enough to allow it to stand on its head. I guess that would be about 4'X2'X2 minimum. How long is you BGK? It sounds like you're guy might be outgrowing its tank. Not sure what else could cause this behaviour, but I think a larger tank would make it happier in any case.

Thank you all for replying...I don't think he was outgrowing the tank. Actually he just died the other day! I think it was his time to go...I would say he was only about 3 inches long so a 10gallon tank for himself was good enough. I was so sad...I actually cried. Didn't think you would be so attached to a fish. I think I might go out and buy another BGK, but he won't be the same as Little Ray. Thanks again for replying to my post!

I agree with the other 2 responses. I bought mine 6 months ago and I had a 20 gallon tank. I quickly upgraded to a 40 gal for about 5 months and I just recently upgraded to an 80 gal. My BGK was about 3" when I bought him, and he is now roughly 71/2" - 8" long. I don't mean to question you, but if you say you had yours almost a year, it must have been bigger that 3". They grow pretty fast and they really are much happier when they have plenty of room to wiggle, but that's just my experience.
